About Roisin
Hey!
My name is Roisin (Ro for short), and I am looking to tutor Physics, Chemistry, Biology or English for NCEA levels 1-3 to any student needing a hand. I enjoy teaching and love when a student can leave a lesson feeling accomplished and proud of themselves for nailing something that was previously a struggle, and I aim to ensure anyone I teach gets that feeling. One of my main goals is to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of being wrong or making mistakes, as learning doesn't happen without it. I also think there are many ways to teach different things and do not mind going over things multiple times in different ways, as everyone understands differently and sometimes it takes time to figure out what works best for you. I have tutored during high school and was able to help out students before, which I enjoyed and would love to do again. Learning isn't exactly fun, but it can generally be made slightly easier and that's exactly what I aim to achieve for you.

In school, I struggled with written learning and detested memorizing, which forced me to find different ways to remember information. I found that understanding is the key to memorizing, and all students understand things in different ways. For applied sciences, such as biology, I will teach by trying to accommodate each student's learning style and do my best to convey patterns and concepts to create a deeper understanding of the topic/process, rather than memorizing names and details. With other sciences such as Physics, I plan on broadening ideas and finding the similarities between concepts to find the 'why' and deepen understanding rather than memorizing a process of equations. I believe short and sweet lessons also keep students concentrated, so ideal lesson times would range from 30 minutes to an hour, however, this is up to the student/caregiver's discretion. In high school, I was asked to tutor students struggling with English, which I enjoyed and was able to try different teaching methods and figure out how I could be as efficient and helpful as possible. I am looking for students in NCEA Levels 1-3 who want a helping hand in NCEA Levels 1-3 Physics, Chemistry, Biology or English.
