About Firdaus

Hi! I'm Firdaus, a recent Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduate from Universiti Malaya, with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for education, particularly in the biological and medical sciences.

My academic journey has been shaped by dedication, perseverance and a continuous desire to improve. In 2019, I was recognized as the Best SPM Student in Kelantan, achieving 11A+, before securing a place among the Top 20 students in the Foundation in Life Sciences program at Universiti Malaya. During medical school, I was subsequently awarded the Dean's List for both preclinical and clinical years, alongside distinctions in several clinical disciplines.

Beyond my academic achievements, I have more than 2 years of experience tutoring SPM students under both the KBSM and KSSM curricula, particularly in science-related subjects. Throughout my medical studies, I was also actively involved in academic mentoring and peer education, guiding junior medical students through structured mentor–mentee programs and collaborative learning initiatives.

These experiences have taught me that being academically successful and being an effective teacher are two very different things. Good teaching requires more than subject knowledge; it calls for patience, empathy, adaptability and the ability to recognize that every student learns differently.

Having navigated the challenges of SPM and the demanding journey of medical school myself, I understand the importance of having someone who can provide not only academic guidance but also encouragement and reassurance when learning becomes overwhelming.

As a tutor, I strive to be approachable, patient and genuinely invested in my students' progress. I want every student I teach to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and recognizing their own potential.

Above all, I hope to inspire students to see learning not merely as a means of achieving excellent examination results, but as an opportunity to develop curiosity, confidence and a lifelong appreciation for knowledge.

I believe that mastering Biology begins with understanding the science behind it, rather than simply memorizing facts. My lessons are designed to make complex biological concepts easier to grasp, more engaging to explore and, most importantly, easier to remember.

I adopt a personalized, concept-driven and examination-oriented approach, adapting each lesson to the student's level of understanding, learning pace and academic goals. Whether you are struggling with the fundamentals or aiming for an A+, I will work with you to identify areas for improvement and develop a structured learning plan that suits your needs.

My teaching incorporates clear, step-by-step explanations, visual illustrations, relatable analogies and practical applications of biological concepts. I also integrate evidence-informed learning strategies, including active recall, spaced repetition, concept mapping and targeted practice, to strengthen understanding and long-term retention.

For students preparing for SPM, particular emphasis is placed on mastering the KSSM syllabus, examination techniques, past-year questions, marking schemes and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Rather than merely providing the correct answers, I guide students through the reasoning behind them, helping them recognize common misconceptions and approach unfamiliar questions with greater confidence.

Each online lesson typically lasts 60–90 minutes, combining interactive teaching, guided discussions, practice questions and constructive feedback. Lessons are primarily intended for Form 4 and Form 5 students studying SPM Biology, although additional support can be tailored to students who wish to strengthen their foundational knowledge.

Ultimately, my aim is not simply to help students perform well in examinations, but to equip them with the understanding, confidence and independent learning skills needed to succeed beyond the classroom.
