A Typical Lesson Plan (60-Minute Session) 1- Dynamic Warm-Up (10 min) Fresh, targeted exercises each session to increase vocal range, control, and agility (e.g., jawal drills for ornamentation, breath support for long phrases). 2- Technique Drill (15 min) Focused drills on: → Maqam transitions (e.g., From Maqam Hijaz to Bayati, passing through Kurd, in Warda’s song Akdib ‘Alayk). → Microtonal accuracy for Arabic scales. → Rhythmic precision (e.g., Waltz Rhythm (3/4 Time Signature)). 3- Repertoire Deep Dive (25 min) → Apply techniques to a pre-agreed song (e.g., "Enta Omri", "Maddanak"), breaking down: → Maqamic structure (e.g., where Bayati modulates to Sikah). → Lyrical phrasing and emotional delivery (tarab). → Performance nuances (dynamics, pauses, vocal tahreer). 4- Live Practice & Coaching (5 min) → Guided run-through of the song, with real-time feedback on technique and expression. 5- Feedback & Roadmap (5 min) → Progress review + personalized practice plan (e.g., "Focus on Sikah maqam transitions this week"). → Next session prep (agree on new song/goals).
