About Akane
Hi! I'm Akane, a second-year microbiology student in Canada! I've always loved tutoring and working together with people to improve upon our skills! Through being a language tutor/partner for 2 years, I've learned a lot about how to teach in an encouraging and positive environment and how to make learning a fun process! I've worked with people from a variety of ages and backgrounds and always enjoy the connections I make through teaching/tutoring! I enjoy learning new things every day and I hope to bring the same enjoyment towards my favorite subjects to you! Let's work towards your goals and enjoy the journey, not just the destination!

My lessons are geared towards elementary to high school students. My experience is in Canadian/Alberta education so my curriculum knowledge is particularly advanced for students in this area. My teaching technique involves a student-focused and goal oriented approach. What do you want to improve on? What are your personal and/or academic goals? I will collaborate with you to achieve those goals and create a positive environment for you to learn and enjoy doing it. I don't have a one size fits all lesson plan as every student is different and has different goals/methods of learning. However, a typical lesson would start with you telling me what you'd like to work on/improve on or any questions you have about a topic and ends with us reviewing what we just practiced. We can spend the lesson going over work you have already done and practicing questions and concepts together. If you'd like more clarification on a topic overall, I am more than happy to review it with you! I love learning and teaching through visuals so I would provide you with many visual and external resources for you that can aid in your understanding that may typically not be available in a textbook! Never be afraid to make mistakes or ask questions with me! It's the best way to learn!
