About Timothy
Throughout my career as a research scientist/engineer, I have been involved in public education at both the high school and college level. Before I started graduate school, I taught math and science in the United States Peace Corps in the Gambia, West Africa. I received my Ph.D. in Soil, Water, and Environmental Science in 1993, and my research jobs have included contract work for the United States EPA, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. During my research career, I taught Biology and Cell Biology at community colleges and WSU Tri-Cities. As a retiree, I taught for two years in High School in both Math and Science.

My teaching style is to help identify what you already understand about the problem, and then identify what the next steps might be. If you are a visual learner, I might try to find a real world example that can help you connect your current problem to a real-life situation. As a scientist, I worked with mathematicians, chemists, and engineers where each of us brought something to the table. I will try to recreate that collaborative environment to help you learn.
