About Robert

I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

Are you ready to excel in A Level physics? You can join me now for engaging lessons that will cover all the key topics. I will help you gain confidence in physics, allowing you to spend more time on other subjects.
With nearly ten years of teaching and tutoring experience, alongside my role as a physics examiner, I believe in the power of our collective efforts.

Last academic year, I proudly witnessed my GCSE student surge from grade six to grade nine and another from grade seven to grade nine. A sixth-form student initially predicted a C, achieved an A in her physics exam, while a potential prospect medic secured an A* in his final exam, choosing physics as his fourth subject because of the support he received.

I am dedicated to tutor and guiding students toward admission to Russell Group universities. With cases from just last year like my A* student being offered a place at Imperial College and another hardworking scholar gaining acceptance to Cambridge to study materials science, I have the privilege of supporting my student reach across the ocean to the Ivy League, or around the globe while demonstrating exceptional time management achieving numerous A* grades for their HK offer.

In our limited time together, I strive to make a meaningful impact. I flexibly adapt to individual needs, starting from any level of prior knowledge. I maintain regular communication with parents, providing updates on progress and preparation work, while encouraging students to challenge themselves ahead of time.

I tutor in the afternoons, Monday to Saturday, and all day on Sunday. Please feel free to message me to book a trial lesson for a nominal fee, allowing you to experience the support I provide and to discuss any questions.

Through my guidance, countless students have found the confidence to chase their dreams and thrive at university. You will get a good idea of how much I can help just after our first lesson.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My passion for physics began in my teenage years, sparked by a dedicated teacher who patiently guided me through my silliness. Years later, I embraced the opportunity to teach physics myself. Through personalised explanations and targeted tutoring, I help students unlock their potential, achieving impressive results in less time. It's a fulfilling journey that empowers learners with the knowledge and confidence they need to excel.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I am passionate about guiding students through their toughest challenges and empowering GCSE students to achieve A-level physics when they struggle to see the possibility. I specialise in transforming particles or waves into strengths for new AS students, and I help second-year students gain clarity in their understanding of fields. My focus is always on providing the support they need most to succeed.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

In the past, I held my teacher in high regard for emphasising that learning a second language enhances cognitive abilities. I believe that the study of physics elevates this improvement even more. Today, I draw inspiration from my students, whose remarkable achievements fill me with immense pride and motivate me to strive for excellence in my own teaching.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A great tutor tailors support to meet each student's unique needs. For one student, this could mean providing clear explanations of concepts, while for another, it might involve applying those concepts to exam questions. For yet another, it could be about guiding their overall study process to ensure all aspects are thoroughly reviewed. I'm committed to addressing your specific needs and helping you succeed.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During a busy day at the end of the week, a young lady in my class kept raising her hand to share her thoughts about something she referred to as "nice guy." I initially presumed this was related to the new seating arrangement I had introduced that day. She persistently interrupted to convey her excitement about it. Eventually, I realised she meant "nice sky," which, when spoken quickly, sounded quite similar. This experience highlighted the importance of actively listening to my students while teaching. She wanted to point out the two rainbows that were clearly visible that day, which I had mentioned in previous lessons. It served as a reminder that students often apply what they learn in class, and it's essential for me to recognise their efforts and observations.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Many teachers with diverse backgrounds introduce students to physics, which can often feel overwhelmingly difficult and discouraging. However, physics doesn't have to be intimidating. It's a subject that you can truly grasp, making it a valuable skill that will serve you well throughout life. Let me help you discover the joy of learning physics and show you how rewarding it can be.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I have a strong passion for engineering as it embodies the practical application of science. With my background, I find great joy in attending lectures that showcase how scientific principles are transformed into real-world solutions. Additionally, I thrive on contributing to engineering initiatives, drawing from my experience and enthusiasm for reading about innovative developments in the field.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

As a dedicated tutor, I've been called to assist students with physics, and I believe that the more students I support, the stronger this discipline will grow. I am committed to helping anyone who is eager to learn and improve their understanding. Your success is my priority!
