About Michael
I’m a fully qualified teacher with nine years of classroom experience across both state and independent schools. I provide online physics tuition for GCSE and A-level students, using strong subject knowledge and an encouraging approach to help each child understand challenging concepts, tackle questions with confidence and become a more independent learner. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. For added peace of mind, I hold a current, clean Enhanced DBS certificate, which is available to view upon request.
I provide specialist GCSE and A-level physics tuition across all exam specifications. Each lesson focuses on the content and question styles relevant to your child’s course, strengthening both their subject understanding and their exam technique.
The first step is a free 30-minute online video consultation using Bitpaper. We can discuss your child’s current needs, the areas of physics they would like help with and what they hope to achieve. I’ll answer your questions and demonstrate the digital whiteboard, giving you and your child a clear sense of how the lessons work and whether my approach is right for them.

Lessons are tailored to the individual student, using an interactive whiteboard and online platforms such as Isaac Science to give more opportunity for practise. Whether they are aiming for a top grade or need patient, structured help to rebuild confidence and close gaps in their understanding, their progress is reviewed against their goals before the next lesson is planned.
We assign each one-hour online lesson a clear purpose and build towards a visible outcome. We use the 30-minute consultation to set the goals and check the student’s existing understanding, allowing the right pace and level of challenge to be set from the start. The lessons then move through three stages that develop understanding, application and exam technique.
On a shared digital whiteboard, I illustrate physics concepts and break calculations down into clear, manageable steps. Students then practise constructing solutions for themselves through guided questions, diagrams and problem-solving activities, moving from following a method to applying it independently and with confidence.
The student applies their understanding to carefully selected past-paper questions. Together, we dissect each question so that the student learns to recognise what it requires and produce clearer, more focused answers.
In the final part of the lesson, the student reviews their work, recognises what they can now do confidently and identifies anything that still needs attention. We then agree on a focused next step for the following lesson, helping the student take ownership of their progress and maintain momentum from one session to the next.
Progress is checked regularly against the relevant exam specification, and parents receive a short lesson summary outlining the tasks completed. This gives students and parents a clear picture of what is secure and what still needs work.

I worked with Michael when he started his teaching career. Michael has a gift for being able to explain complex ideas in a simpler way using everyday examples. He is adaptable and has a variety of teaching styles to suit different learning styles.
When teaching a class of 30, Michael was still able to challenge all pupils who were working at different levels.
Michael is professional, highly knowledgeable, and will ensure that you understand the content before moving to the next level.I have known Michael for 8 years and have had the pleasure of working alongside him for 3 years in a Secondary and 6th Form School. He is an excellent Physics teacher with a real passion for his subject and a talent for making complex ideas clear and accessible. Michael is patient, knowledgeable and approachable, and I would have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor to any student looking to improve their understanding and confidence in Physics.
Michael and I taught together for 3 years in The Cayman Islands. He is an excellent Physics teacher who really inspires his students and always goes the extra mile. As well as having outstanding GCSE results ( 85% A*-A) he ran the KS3 Science club and supported students in the Robotics club. I remember his amazing work with the Year 7 Science Ambassadors when they went into our feeder primary school and taught the students about electricity, magnetism, neutralisation and using microscopes. This was hugely enriching for our students who developed leadership skills and a sense of autonomy. I cannot recommend him highly enough as a Physics Tutor.

GCSE Physics: 12-Week Programme for Exam Skills and Progress
By the end of this structured 12-week one-to-one GCSE Physics programme, pupils will have strengthened their subject knowledge, mathematical confidence and exam technique. Teaching is tailored throughout to each pupil’s needs, exam board and progress.
This programme is for GCSE Physics students who want help with difficult topics, more confidence with calculations, better exam technique and improved results in exam papers. Programme details Format: One 60-minute online session each week for 12 weeks, delivered through BitPaper.
Programme details Format: One 60-minute online session each week for 12 weeks, delivered through BitPaper.
Programme fee: The full 12-week programme costs £500 and is paid in two instalments of £250. The first instalment covers weeks 1–6. After the session 6 progress review, you can either continue and pay the second instalment for weeks 7–12 or use the break clause with no further commitment.
How the programme supports progress
The programme begins by identifying gaps in core knowledge and essential maths skills. Pupils strengthen these foundations before applying their learning to timed questions from their exam board. Assessment results and homework then show where further support is needed, allowing later sessions to focus on weaker areas, advanced problem-solving, six-mark questions and past-paper practice.
Six-session progress review: In session 6, the tutor and parent review assessment results, homework, engagement and overall progress. Together, they agree the priorities for the remaining sessions. The parent can then continue with the programme or use the break clause with no further commitment.
How the 12-week programme works
The programme follows five stages: building secure foundations, completing a timed assessment, reviewing progress, targeting remaining weaknesses and consolidating learning through a final timed review.
The next section outlines what your child will work on at each stage, how progress will be assessed and where the formal review and continuation decision fit within the 12 weeks.
Sessions Focus
Weeks 1–4 Build foundations Core physics and maths skills
The tutor uses discussions and tasks during lessons to identify gaps and strengthen understanding in topics selected with the pupil and parent. A 30-minute weekly homework task reinforces each session.
Week 5 Timed assessment
Measure progress The pupil completes past questions from their exam board. The tutor marks the assessment and identifies progress and priorities.
Week 6 Progress review
Agree next steps The tutor and parent review the evidence and agree priorities. The parent then decides whether to continue or use the break clause with no further commitment.
Weeks 7–11 Targeted improvement Exam technique and problem-solving
Teaching focuses on identified weaknesses, complex problems, interpreting questions and structuring six-mark answers.
Week 12 Final timed review
Consolidate learning A guided past-paper review reinforces key learning, develops time management and sets priorities for continued revision.
A Level Physics: 12-Week Programme for Exam Skills and Progress
This one-to-one A Level Physics programme helps students deepen their understanding, improve mathematical fluency and solve complex and synoptic problems more independently. Students learn to connect ideas across topics, choose and apply appropriate models, and communicate extended reasoning clearly. Teaching is tailored to each student’s needs, exam board and progress across the 12 weeks.
