About Emerald
I graduated from York University in 2022 after years of studying closely with some of the greatest jazz musicians in Toronto. Throughout my time at school I played in small and large jazz ensembles learning styles such as swing, contemporary jazz, funk, gospel, r&b, and world music. During my time in university I worked at an amusement park playing in a traditional jazz band where I continued to grow and hone my improvisation skills. I have also spent years busking on the streets and playing in venues around Toronto.

Hi! I’m Emerald. A professional musician, jazz trumpet player, and passionate educator with a HBFA in Jazz Studies. I specialize in teaching trumpet, music theory, improvisation, and all the beginning steps to learning how to play jazz confidently. Whether you are brand new to music or looking to deepen your understanding, I’m here to help you build confidence and enjoy the learning process. I bring a warm, supportive teaching style that’s grounded in real musical experience and believing there’s no such thing as a silly question.
