About Ava
Hello, my name is Ava, and I hope to be your Creative Writing or English Lit tutor! I love English because there truly is never a wrong answer or a silly question. Writing is about thinking outside the box and asking lots of questions to get down to the little details that interest you. Every piece of writing can be read and interpreted differently, and that is what's so fascinating about literature. So, I aim to encourage whatever weird and wonderful route you wish to take with a story and shape it into a clear and concise piece of work that you can be proud of. Depending on what it is that you are interested in learning, be it understanding a book a little better or writing a story yourself, I aim to help you the best way I can and in a way that suits you.

I first of all start with a small conversation, just getting to know the student as an individual, and what their main strengths and weaknesses are in the subject, and what they are interested in learning more about. This allows me to form individualised lesson plans, tailored to the student appropriately. My lessons tend to be around 45 minutes to an hour since that seems to be the ideal amount of time to get a lot done without exhausting the students! My aim is to make learning English fun, not a chore. I typically tutor children between the ages of 4 - 13, however, I am open and keen to tutor students up to a GCSE level. I currently have a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the UEA and am studying a Master's in Creative Writing at Cambridge University. I have worked in various schools and children's activities camps teaching English, amongst other subjects like Art and Drama, for the past four years.
