I have worked with a lot of well-known artists and appeared on TV a few times.

I keep it fun and talk a lot about music. I follow up on how you're doing your HW and practice.
I focus mainly on the basics. If you learn A-Z properly only then can you speak and write English properly. Similarly, if you learn the notes properly only then can you listen to the song and be able to play it yourself without any help from Youtube or any tab website.
I teach songs as a reward for completing the exercises.The song is based on that particular exercise, to help motivate you to keep practicing.
