My relationship with Luis began about 7 years ago when he came to teach an afterschool drama program at my high school. From the get-go he was enthusiastic, eager, disciplined and, I cannot stress this enough, prepared. He embarked the herculean task of preparing a group of kids who had somewhat of an interest in performance into a well-rounded cohort who proved themselves on a national level. All of this mind you, while also studying and perfecting his own craft.
I fondly remember that first year along with the two others that followed it, as some of the most challenging yet rewarding moments of my life. Luis has an incredible ability to recognize the strengths people bring to the table. Moreover, he is even better at putting them to use for the task at hand. He is an innate leader who knows how to address both the individual and group with grace, he celebrates their successes and failures while still giving clear direction on what needs to be addressed for constant growth. Luis is one of the hardest working people I have met and through his infectious enthusiasm that he installs in his own work, he passes this great work ethic to those around him.
Outside of his teaching abilities, Luis is a kindhearted, caring human being. He has been a source of knowledge, strength and motivation for me as long as I’ve known him and even more now as we both embark on the journey that is being an actor. I can rely on him without a shadow of a doubt and cannot wait to see where his journey takes him. I am eternally grateful to have him be a part of my life, as I’m sure many other do. Luis is truly one of a kind.

It comes with great pleasure recommending Luis. I know him from quite a few perspectives and in every one of these, he excels widely on both personal and professional terms. I first met Luis when he was coursing his bachelor’s degree, as he was classmate to both my daughters; from then on, not only did he stand out for his talent on stage but also for his noticeable commitment and responsibility. On 2016 I was lucky enough to recruit him to coach our school’s Public Speaking team which I have been head of for more than twenty years; Cupeyville School is one of the most competitive and demanding schools in Puerto Rico. Luis led our team for three years, meaning he had the very challenging responsibility of coaching and directing 13 high school students in different competitive categories: Theater, Speech, Poetry, Original Piece, and Improvisation. For the participating private schools of the island this comes as a very serious and prestigious competition that is held annually at a national level in which more that fifty schools take part in. Luis' responsibilities not only included creating imaginative and artistic montages for each individual student, but also, preparing them in terms of acting, diction and motivation. Rivera achieved all the previous by engaging in group dynamics with the kids as well as working on each of the students’ sense of belonging to the team. For example, the Original category requires students to write an original piece; in order to squeeze the capacities of the participants in this category, our coach offered creative writing workshops and exercises that never failed to help the students achieve their maximal potential when it came to originality and creativity. With Luis as our coach Cupeyville’ s team always managed to obtain first place. Rivera, led individual students to prepare as a whole. His effort, not only got us multiple individual victories but also our very celebrated collective first prize, which we had the pleasure of taking home during three consecutive years. Luis’ dedication had our team break high scores each year. Rivera Figueroa is a natural and subtle leader. The commitment he brings to his passions and responsibilities make him a good sensitive leader and a great teacher who knows how to help students reach their potential and achieve the best version of themselves. After Luis left our school to begin his master's degree, we’ve had other good coaches pass by who have done the work but have not managed to reach the level of excellence that Luis brought. With that being said, I think it is more than clear that I recommend Luis Rivera with full confidence. I am sure that he will soon become a great pillar within your organization.
