About Caroline

I am a Spanish/English speaking clinical social worker and Masters level alumni of the University of Chicago currently working as a behavioral health therapist. I have developed a decade worth of experience including legal advocacy, individual/group/family therapy, substance abuse counseling, crisis intervention, research assistance, and mentoring. I worked full-time throughout my education and have further professional experience in property management, the restaurant/hospitality industry, and real estate, which has furthered my ability to understand different life circumstances and expanded my awareness of varying cultures, beliefs, values, and practices. My ultimate goal is to provide client-centered tutoring/mentorship to persons of all ages who wish to expand their depth of knowledge by pursuing a college degree and/or who wish to further develop a professional portfolio.

About the lesson

Client-centered - lessons geared towards individuals' strengths and values (academic integrity, writing proficiency, skills, etc.) as well as targeting difficulties/areas of improvement (writing, public speaking/interviewing, research, etc).
Eclectic teaching style - aimed for persons who wish to utilize their personal, academic, and professional experiences to better qualify and succeed in desired area of expertise (including psychology, sociology, social work/justice, and/or preparation for law school). May be modified should individual need support/mentor-ship in narrowing their focus of study/profession.
Lesson structure - recognize goals, create SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound), identify individual values/strengths and areas of difficulties, explore potential barriers/limitations, and create needs assessment.

Caroline is an excellent teacher. I have known her for 8 or so years now and I always say, every time we talk, I leave having learned something new and/or a new perspective. She is patient, she is kind, she is brilliant and she is creative. She is a natural born leader and teacher, and truly cares about her students and the people in her life.

Caroline and I completed our graduate program together, so I can attest to both her extensive knowledge base and her abilities to help teach and guide others. Caroline strives for a balance between providing structure and guidance while also accommodating individual needs and being flexible as needed. She is creative and one of her greatest strengths is building relationships in ways that are tailored to each individual person she works with. Caroline is very responsible and communicative in addition to not backing down from a challenge! She is someone who is a natural at guiding others in many walks of life.
