About Lois
I am a Biology university student with a strong interest in science and mathematics, and I am currently achieving a First overall in my degree. I enjoy learning about these subjects and want to share that enthusiasm with students.
I want to teach because I find it rewarding to help others understand topics they may initially find difficult. I believe that with the right explanation, encouragement and support, every student can make progress and become more confident in their abilities.
As a tutor, I aim to create a friendly and relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand this is not always possible, and it may feel uncomfortable in a class full of lots of other students in school. I want my lessons to be both useful and enjoyable, while helping students develop the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and personalised to each student. I believe lessons should be engaging and adapted to each student’s needs, whether they need help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for exams, or building confidence in a subject.
I use clear explanations, worked examples, practice questions and active recall to help students understand and remember key concepts. I encourage students to ask questions and work through problems themselves, while providing guidance and support whenever needed.
Lessons typically last around 1 hour, although I am happy to adapt the lesson length depending on the student’s age, concentration and individual requirements.
As a Biology university student, I have a strong academic background in Biology and the sciences, and I can teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. I have achieved strong A-level grades in Maths, Physics and Biology and my overall university grade so far is a First. I aim to make challenging topics easier to understand by breaking them down into simple, manageable steps.
My lessons suit both primary and high school students, with content adapted to their age and level. I can support younger students with foundational Maths and Science, as well as students working towards GCSEs.
