About Tyler
I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, class of 2019. I work as a software developer and data scientist in the field of computational neuroscience for my day job, and tutor when possible to stay sharp and practice teaching. I am a reliable, patient, and compassionate tutor and have been helping other students learn since I myself was in high school.
I am a "digital nomad" and live in a van, so I am only available for remote consultations, but this flexibility usually works better for students. I can use Skype, Zoom, etc. for sessions, and text or email for correspondence, whatever is easiest/most comfortable for student and parent.
In my personal time, I love rock climbing, hiking, music, and cooking!

I am a patient, qualified tutor with a bachelors of science in engineering. I teach for comprehension and learning, not to pass tests (passing tests is a nice side effect of comprehension, though!).
I am flexible and can work with you on timing and/or cost. I find it's best to develop a longer term relationship with students over multiple sessions in order to really understand how they learn best, but I am happy to provide last minute cram sessions or one-off lessons for students who usually understand the material but can't seem to get this one concept.
I am upbeat and try to bring fun into my lessons to help keep students engaged. I love learning and if there are specific techniques or material I haven't yet been exposed to, I am happy to adapt my materials as necessary.
I work best with middle and high school students studying anything up to AP Calculus or AP Physics, AP Chemistry and AP Biology. I think anyone can learn to love math and science given the right understanding and opportunity.
