About Tom
University of Cambridge graduate in Natural Sciences (Chemistry), with electives taken in physiology, cell biology, pharmacology and plant sciences. I've over 500 hours of tutoring experience, predominantly in A-level chemistry and biology, though also in KS1, 2 and 3 English and Maths. I have an up-to-date extended DBS check.
I'm available for one-to-one online sessions, in which I'll use a graphics tablet to draw and explain materials as one would in person.
Pupils will vary as to their requirements, be it regular support to complement learning at school, or more ad hoc consolidation/extension. I am happy to cater across the range, and focus on any areas of particular interest or difficulty - please feel welcome to get in touch.

Lessons are conducted over Zoom, with a stable connection on my end and graphics tablet used for sketching diagrams, etc. Screens are provided to the student for their review after the session.
For a targeted review of a particular topic, an hour is generally sufficient to solidify one's understanding of the key ideas. Students might want to tackle fine lines in the detail, or benefit from a more comfortable pace; it can be helpful in these cases to spend a bit longer (90-120 mins).
I offer the first 30 minutes of a session free (effectively, your first booking with me is half-price).

Tom was my A-Level Chemistry Tutor during the latter half of Year 13 and I highly recommend him as a tutor for anyone studying A-level Chemistry, Biology or Maths. His strong command and passion for all three subjects enabled him to teach me more advanced material; explaining interlinks between these subjects. I would also recommend him to all abilities as he was able to simplify complex topics in Chemistry and was able to convey the key details for the exam - which substantially improved my exam technique.
