About Imogen
I’m a Cambridge MPhil graduate with a BA in History and am now offering GCSE tutoring to History students and support with university assignments/entry. I enjoy History because it shows us how people lived and made decisions, and it helps us understand the world we live in now.
I help students improve by focusing on two things: building secure subject knowledge and practising the skills that exams actually test. In sessions, I split time between going over content, creating revision resources and working through GCSE‑style questions so students learn how to apply what they know.
My approach is calm, structured and practical. I set clear goals, explain ideas in a straightforward way and make sure students understand not just what the answer is, but why it works. I’m developing my tutoring experience by working with several GCSE pupils, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
I’m reliable, organised and used to working at a high academic level. I know how to push students without overwhelming them, and I want them to finish each session feeling more confident than when they started.

I structure lessons around building secure subject knowledge, creating useful revision resources and practising GCSE‑style questions so students learn the content clearly and know how to apply it in exams.
This may involve going through the information for the first half an hour, and then applying this to different questions that the student finds hard, as a way to reinforce this knowledge.
