About Emily
I am a Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse with experience supporting patients throughout their recovery following a cardiac event. My role involves providing personalised education, guidance, and secondary prevention advice to help individuals regain confidence, improve their cardiovascular health, and reduce their risk of future cardiac problems.
Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in education and regularly teach medical students about cardiac rehabilitation and cardiovascular care. I have also delivered teaching sessions for postgraduate students on topics including acute coronary syndromes, valve surgery, and coronary revascularisation. I enjoy translating complex clinical concepts into clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences for students at all levels.

My lessons explore how the heart works in both health and disease, helping learners understand what happens during cardiac events such as a heart attack (myocardial infarction). We’ll break down the science behind heart function in a clear and accessible way, covering topics such as valve disease, basic ECG interpretation, and the body’s response to cardiovascular conditions.
Along the way, we’ll look at how heart attacks are treated, what recovery involves, and the important role of secondary prevention in reducing future risk. We’ll also explore commonly used cardiac medications, how they work, and the side effects to be aware of. My aim is to make complex cardiac concepts interesting, practical, and easy to understand, whether you’re new to the subject or looking to build on existing knowledge.
Whether you know nothing or a lot about the heart or are studying for your exams or trying to learn more about a healthy lifestyle, I can help. I teach up to undergraduate university level and can tailor lessons to the individual.
