About Monique
I have several certificates in culinary arts approved by American Culinary Federation, plus many years experience catering for business-related events, and family gatherings. Professional experience comes from running a group daycare business for more than twenty years where I had to cook healthy meals in large quantities on a daily basis and where I often taught simple cooking lessons to staff. My cooking skills however are an inheritance from my puertorican mom who was a professional cook who knew how herbs ‘behaved ‘ and knew how to make a simple dish taste like a five star meal. Now I want to share her legacy by passing on her tips and recipe secrets.

With more than thirty years experience in the kitchen you can feel confident you’re learning with a pro. My one-on-one cooking lessons will have you cooking up a storm of popular latin dishes in no time. Starting with the basic recipe for ‘sofrito’ which is the foundation of most Spanish/puertorican dishes you will learn to build up from this base to start cooking spanish rices, stews, beans, soups and festivity dishes such as; gazpacho, arroz con gandules, pasteles, etc. You will be learning how to cook the traditional way. Identifying the herbs, spices, vegetables and seasonings typical to the puertorican and Latin culture is a very fundamental part of my curriculum and with these tools you will be well on your way to creating delicious, healthy Puertorican meals that will make your guest want to go for thirds!

Real authentic spanish food straight from PR!! Every spanish person knows every dish starts from the sofrito! And let me tell you, this Sofrito recipe makes all my family lick the dishes! From rice to to beans, from meats to stew, I put that badboy on everything and it never fails!!! My hubby loves my cooking! I can’t say I was a bad cook before but now I feel more confident and really enjoying cooking. You should also ask Monique about her Turkey and stuffing recipe.. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!
This woman is a master cook! Her cooking is top-notch! She should have a degree in Latin cooking; is that serious! In my family circle she’s respected as the best cook, Latin restaurants have nothing on her, trust me.
