About Beatrice

Hi all. I'm Beatrice, I'm from Italy and I come from a musical family. I was involved in singing since the age of 5 and started taking singing lessons at the age of 12. When I was 15, I started teaching kids from 12yo at my brother's music school in Italy. In 2015 I moved to London to continue my music career. Today I'm a qualified vocal coach. I've studied Pop, Rock, Jazz and Contemporary styles at BIMM London and graduated with a first. I work as a backing vocalist and session singer. I'm also part of the London Contemporary Voices choir in London. With them I have done: - LCV big show at Union Chapel - LCV + Wolf Alice at Union Chapel - LCV + Deepa Nair Rasiya+Maya Youssef+Jesca hoop+KA’RYYN at Union Chapel - LCV + Amber Run at Union Chapel - LCV + Imogen Heap at Union Chapel - LCV performance at Profound Sound Festival in Folkstone - LCV + Elena Tonra (Daughter’s lead singer) at Southbank Center, Queen Elizabeth Hall - LCV London Pride performance on main stage - LCV performance at Secret Garden Party Festival on main stage as a lead singer - Southbank Center Chorus festival performance - LCV Xmas show at Oval space - LCV performance at Bestival on main stage - YES YES YES LCV Party at Thousand Island - Campfire club/Nest collective choir performance

The teaching method I use in my lessons is part of the MVT training. It consists in creating a balance between your chest voice, head voice and your mixed, focusing on stretching the vocal folds and removing any body tension. Voice and artistic growth are very vast subjects. The conjunction of several techniques and methods help students unleash their full potential. First approach would be to identify and have a diagnosis in order to create a plan that will help reach your goal. Lessons can take place in person at her house or online, if agreed. They can be 1 hour or 30 minutes long depending on the experience and level of the student. I have 2 ways of assessing my students. One is a simple 5 tone scale exercise. Such exercise requires a bigger effort and therefore is very efficient for me to understand the level of the student. The exercise starts from the chest voice and continues past the bridge which is usually where the voice break could happen and continues towards the head/mixed voice. Bridges vary depending on whether it is a man or a woman. This is a good way of understanding students full range and if they struggle anywhere along the way up. After that, I ask you to sing a short song to see if your way of singing is the same as the previous exercise. I prefer to do the song too because most of the time, students execute both tasks very differently. After the assessment, we take a few minutes to discuss what I have heard and then we make a plan towards the final goal we want to achieve together. My second approach includes 2-3 minutes of warm up exercises mixed with technique exercises to help overcome the weaknesses in the voice. The rest of the lesson is spent singing a song we choose. I will also look at breathing technique, vocal effects (cry-twang-creak-growl) and agility which can be improved with a few exercises. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if interested!.

Find out more about Beatrice

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I come from a family of talented musicians. My passion for singing specifically from the age of five while singing in church as part of a choir with my Dad. Since then I have learnt guitar as a form of accompaniment for my singing.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Pop-Jazz-Funk. My main influences are Jacob Collier, Charlie Puth, Ariana Grande, Dirty Loops.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

    A course on vocal agility.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

The voice is the most complicated instrument to master because it involves physiological and emotional mastery and requires constant adaptation as your body changes with time.
  • What are your keys to success?

Set some goals and work towards them consistently, maintain a positive attitude and work hard.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Jacob Collier, Charlie Puth and Ariana Grande. They are not just singers but extremely talented musicians. Meeting them would be a great inspiration for me.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

During my days at music school, I had to go on stage without having learnt the song I had to perform. That particular event taught me that over-preparedness is essential for being a professional performer.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I have first hand experience in the music industry both on stage and in the studio. These are two different skills that require equal amounts of attention and my expertise could be valuable to any students looking to enter those areas of the music industry.
