About Matt
My fascination with chemistry began when I first understood that invisible molecular interactions create the physical realities we experience daily. This curiosity led me to earn a B.Sc in Industrial Chemistry and later an M.Sc in Molecular Chemical Research, which deepened my understanding of both applied and theoretical chemical systems. Over the past 11 years, I have guided students through chemistry with clarity, structure, and supportive encouragement.
I believe chemistry should feel logical rather than intimidating. My teaching style emphasises conceptual understanding, step-by-step reasoning, and helping learners build confidence through practice instead of fear. I adapt explanations to each student’s pace, ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions and exploring challenging topics.
Outside of tutoring, I remain engaged with chemistry through research reading, environmental chemistry interests, and continuous study of modern scientific advancements. Teaching is deeply fulfilling because I see learners transform from uncertainty into confident thinkers who can approach chemical problems with clarity and independence.

Chemistry becomes far more engaging when students realise it is the science of transformation happening constantly in the world around them. My lessons focus on helping learners understand atomic structure, bonding, reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, equilibrium, and chemical energetics through clear explanation and real-life connections. Instead of treating chemistry as memorisation, I guide students towards seeing patterns and logical relationships that make even complex topics feel approachable and meaningful.
Each session is carefully adapted to the student’s academic level and learning goals. Beginners build strong foundations in the periodic table, mole calculations, and balancing equations with supportive step-by-step instruction. Intermediate learners strengthen skills in acids and bases, reaction rates, thermochemistry, and solution behaviour through guided practice and detailed feedback. Advanced students explore deeper analytical chemistry reasoning, multi-step mechanisms, and exam-level problem solving with precision and confidence-building support. Every lesson includes structured practice to ensure steady progress.
Chemistry lessons also help students develop patience, scientific reasoning, and stronger confidence in tackling difficult problems. Over time, learners become more comfortable interpreting reactions, solving calculations, and thinking critically about matter and change. My goal is to help students succeed academically while also discovering chemistry as an empowering and fascinating subject.
