My teaching approach changes from student to student depending on the student's level of understanding. My general approach to all the students is to first build a bridge of trust and communication. Most students aren't able to talk about their problems because they don't feel safe enough to communicate with the tutor. The second step is, asking them the problem and if they have approached the problem on their own. This question is mainly important for me because it defines the how I would be able to tackle the problems, either being thorough or going in-depth to explain the concepts behind the question. The last step is to teach the student and most importantly ensure they can solve the problem on their own. I usually do this by giving them a practice question.
