About Theo
I have been tutoring Chess for 9 years, working with High School and College students. Over this time, I have had the privilege of teaching more than 300 students, helping them grow their skills and confidence in the game. My passion for education drives me to make every lesson engaging and meaningful. I believe Chess is not only a game but also a powerful tool to develop critical thinking, patience, and problem-solving skills. Throughout my career, I have seen many students improve from beginners to strong players who compete successfully in tournaments. One of my proudest milestones is guiding several students to win local and regional Chess competitions. I tailor my teaching to each student’s needs and learning style, ensuring they understand concepts clearly and enjoy the learning process. My goal is to help students build a strong foundation in Chess and develop a lifelong love for the game. I am committed to supporting every learner, whether they want to play casually or compete seriously. Together, we can unlock your potential and take your Chess skills to the next level. Teaching Chess has been a rewarding journey, and I look forward to helping more students discover the joy and challenge of this timeless game.

My teaching methodology for Chess is built on collaboration, empathy, and open-mindedness. I believe that learning is most effective when the student and tutor work together as a team. I encourage open communication, so students feel comfortable sharing their ideas, questions, and challenges. Empathy helps me understand each student’s unique learning style and pace. I adapt my lessons to fit their needs, making sure concepts are clear and approachable. Chess can be complex, but with patience and support, every student can improve and enjoy the game. Open-mindedness allows me to explore different strategies and perspectives with students. Chess is not just about memorising moves but understanding ideas and creativity. I encourage students to think critically and experiment with new approaches during our sessions. Besides teaching Chess, I can also help with related subjects like problem-solving, logic, and critical thinking skills, which support overall learning and performance in Chess and beyond. Together, we focus on building a strong foundation in Chess basics and gradually advance to more complex tactics and strategies. I provide regular feedback and encourage practice to build confidence. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated to grow their skills. I want to help you enjoy Chess while becoming a stronger, more thoughtful player.
