About Richard
I’m a professional trombonist with degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. I’ve performed internationally as a soloist, orchestral musician, and jazz artist, and have taught at the college level in both classical and improvisational settings. My teaching combines the highest level of artistry with a practical, supportive approach — whether you’re picking up your horn after years away or looking to unlock new creative potential. As a lifelong learner and multidisciplinary thinker, I approach music as both an emotional language and a structured system — blending technical clarity with expressive depth. I offer remote lessons designed to fit your schedule and learning style, with a focus on meaningful progress, self-expression, and artistic joy. Music has been a powerful force for healing and purpose in my life, and I’m passionate about helping others rediscover that same beauty in theirs.
