About Todd
Award-winning jewelry designer, jewelry store owner, and custom jeweler with 40 years of hands-on experience in the jewelry industry. I teach jewelry design through hand drawing and CAD, combining traditional goldsmithing knowledge with modern design techniques.
My lessons focus on real-world jewelry design, including proportion, construction, stone setting, wearability, and maneuverability. Whether you are a beginner, jewelry student, CAD designer, or working professional, I tailor each lesson to your experience and goals.
My goal is to share the practical knowledge I’ve gained over four decades at the jeweler’s bench and help students create jewelry that not only looks beautiful, but can actually be made and worn successfully.

My teaching approach is hands-on and personalized. I focus on helping students understand not only how to create a design, but also how that design will actually be made, worn, and function as a finished piece of jewelry.
A typical lesson is built around the student’s experience level and goals. We may work from an existing jewelry idea, sketch a new concept, develop proportions and measurements, or translate a design into CAD while discussing construction, stone setting, wear ability, and manufacturing considerations.
What sets my lessons apart is four decades of real-world experience as a custom jeweler. I bring a maker’s perspective to design, helping students understand the practical details that can make the difference between a design that looks good on a screen and one that works beautifully at the bench.
Lessons are suitable for beginners, jewelry students, aspiring designers, CAD designers, and working jewelry professionals who want to strengthen their design skills and better understand how jewelry is actually constructed.
