• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  I have always enjoyed helping others learn, so I knew I wanted to pursue a career in teaching. I enjoyed my other education courses, but it was important to me to learn how to assist all types of students. I chose to enroll in this special education course to discover more about students with different abilities so I am better equipped to teach them. I want every student in my classroom to feel respected and supported.

• How does your work help society?

  Teachers teach children many values and ideals; they are very important as role models. Students desire to emulate their role models and teachers play an important role in shaping the lives of their students.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  I would think about my math teacher from grade 10 because he is the one who made me fall in love with the subject and taught me the importance of loving the subject for learning it better.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside teaching, I sketch and play video games and I am deeply interested in any type of physical activity.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  I believe when students are challenged with realistic goals and given support, they need not to just get the answers right but be able to use those lessons to solve future problems on their own, everyone comes out on top. I think that as a teacher, it’s my job to support my students through the lessons I give, but also through the various challenges they may face at school, and to partner with them as well as other support systems to help them feel motivated, comfortable, and happy throughout the lecture.
