About Freddie
I am a Cambridge graduate and training barrister with extensive tutoring experience. With several hundred hours' experience between over 50 clients and students, I am a versatile and resourceful tutor used to making the online classroom an effective learning space. I understand the pressure that children are put under in the entrance exam system, and aim to create a calm environment conducive to building self-confidence. With a Starred First in languages from Cambridge, I bring hard work, experience and dedication. With years of teaching languages (German, Spanish) and 11+ subjects behind me, my students regularly reach their goals, be that meeting a GCSE or A-level target or simply learning for fun. I have taught both privately and in professional settings, including as a school teacher and as a freelance tutor to corporate clients. I use a range of resources and teaching techniques to create a productive and non-pressured study environment, particularly helpful to any school students seeking to regain the enthusiasm they may have lost at school. I am well acquainted with 11+ formats and a range of GCSE and A-level boards, as well as a variety of films and plays that may form part of your child's syllabus. I have always enjoyed teaching and my experience includes numerous weeks of teaching German to teenage refugees in a Berlin high-school. I learnt to be creative in explaining and demonstrating the complexities of German grammar and pronunciation to a group of non-Europeans, keeping the lessons fun, varied and tailored to the student. I have also worked on a one-to-one basis tutoring school students in German, Spanish and English literature at GCSE level and at A-Level, helping them to overcome any difficulties they have with language and literature learning. My experience with languages and linguistics in higher education allows me to locate exactly what my students find challenging and what teaching methods will work to help them. Some struggle with grammar, some with pronunciation, some with the curriculum and some simply need to build their confidence. As a friendly, young tutor familiar with UK public examinations and with the European language framework, I can offer tailored lessons to whomever needs help - whether it be with conversation, reading, writing or listening skills. My lessons provide a calm environment where your child can hone their entrance exam skills or learn to impress in admissions interviews. Over sessions lasting 60 or 90 minutes, I aim to build the confidence needed to perform under pressure, whether that means mastering in-exam techniques or building a more expressive vocabulary. I have particular experience with non-native English language students who require specific assistance to boost their communicative skills. With my help, students of mine have tackled admissions into a wide range of schools.

Pembroke College CambridgeFreddie is an incredibly talented linguist and comes highly recommended as a tutor in German, Spanish, Latin and English. At Latymer Upper School (where he was Head Boy) he served as an Academic Mentor, tutoring younger pupils in a range of subjects, and he has also worked at a school in Berlin teaching refugees Spanish (in German!) Freddie has excellent people skills and will quickly build a rapport with pupils and parents alike.
