About Matt
I'm Tam Ho Wang, a proud alumnus of UC San Diego where I graduated with a joint major in Mathematical Economics. Alongside my academic pursuits, I have been passionately playing the piano for 15 years. My love for this beautiful instrument runs deep, and it's a journey of discovery that I have immensely enjoyed and still continue to explore. To fortify my skills, I've achieved the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Certification, a testament to my dedication and proficiency.

Each of my piano lessons is thoughtfully structured and tailored to the student's individual needs and aspirations. Here's what you can expect:
Warm-Up Exercises: We start each session with warm-up exercises to tune your fingers and your mind, establishing the right mindset for learning.
Technical Skills: We'll tackle the basics such as scales, arpeggios, and chords for beginners, and dive deeper into advanced techniques for more seasoned players.
Sight-Reading: This essential skill will be honed from day one, developing your ability to read and interpret music with accuracy and ease.
Repertoire Building: I'll help you learn and build a repertoire that suits your taste, whether it be classical, pop, jazz, or any other genre of your interest.
Music Theory: To ensure you understand the 'why' behind the 'how', we'll cover relevant music theory to deepen your understanding of the music you're playing.
Ear Training: This vital aspect will improve your ability to hear and identify different pitches, intervals, melody, rhythms, and chords, enabling you to play songs by ear.
Performance Techniques: As you progress, we'll explore the art of performance, covering elements such as stage presence, audience interaction, and managing performance anxiety.
Review and Feedback: At the end of each lesson, we'll review what was learned, address any difficulties encountered, and set goals for the next session.
