About Beckett
I am Beckett McDowell, a dedicated scholar of political economy and a fervent observer of the interplay between economics and international relations. My academic journey has taken me from the historic halls of the University of St Andrews, where I delved deep into the nuances of Economics and International Relations, to the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science, where I'm currently advancing my understanding of the Political Economy of Europe.

Approach to Tutoring:
As a passionate political economy and international relations enthusiast, I focus on an immersive, discussion-led approach to learning that goes beyond the textbook to engage with real-world scenarios. My teaching methodology is built around a three-tiered structure:
Conceptual Clarity: Beginning with a solid foundation, I ensure that students grasp the fundamental concepts of political science and international relations.
Contextual Learning: We analyze case studies ranging from the evolving political landscape of Europe to the nuances of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Critical Thinking and Analysis: Encouraging students to think critically is pivotal. I'll teach students how to think outside the box to approach political and economic issues.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
Each lesson is typically 1 to 1.5 hours long, allowing ample time for discussion, questions, and in-depth exploration of topics.
Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:
Currently studying for an MSc in Political Economy of Europe from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of St Andrews.
Experience working with USAID and the United States Senate, United House of Representatives, and United States Military providing real-world insights into politics and international relations.
