I am currently finishing up my first year at the university and after my matric year I took a gap year and during that gap year that's when I was helping learners around where I live with maths. I was basically a maths tutor for some learners between grade 3 and 9

The method I use is first find out what the learner struggles with and I prepare before we do start practicing together. I will then go through the basics of the topic to find out if the learner knows something about that topic. Then start teaching smaller parts and testing the learner by first doing the sums with them and the new giving them some to do on their own to see if they really understand and after that I will give them a challenging one then once I can see that the learner is confident we can move on but if there's still some uncertainty in their response we will do it from scratch, depending on where they struggle
