About Joanna Marie
Hi! I’m an engineering graduate with a strong background in mathematics and a passion for helping students learn. I understand that math can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming, so I aim to make each lesson simple, clear, and enjoyable. I’m patient and friendly, and I encourage my students to ask questions and learn at a pace that feels comfortable for them. My approach to teaching math is simple: I believe every student can learn when lessons are explained in a way that makes sense to them. As an engineering graduate with a strong background in mathematics and problem-solving, I enjoy helping students break down challenging topics into smaller, easier-to-understand steps.
I understand that every student learns differently, so I don't believe in using the exact same approach for everyone. I adapt my explanations, examples, and pace based on each student's level and areas where they need the most support. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking the time they need to truly understand a topic.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous lessons or any difficulties the student is currently experiencing. From there, we'll work through the topic step by step using clear explanations and practical examples. We will solve problems together first, and as the student becomes more confident, they'll have the opportunity to work through questions independently with my guidance and support. I also make sure to review important concepts and address any questions before ending the lesson.
My goal is not simply to help students find the right answer, but to help them understand why and how to solve a problem. I want to help elementary and high school students build a strong foundation in math, improve their problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. Whether you need extra support with a challenging topic, help preparing for a test, or simply want to strengthen your math skills, I'll be happy to support you on your learning journey.
