Everything starts with four main operations, applied to whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers: basic math like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rulle ofPEMDAS Basic math works with different kinds of numbers you’ll meet daily:
• Whole numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4… — simple counting numbers including zero.
• Integers: Whole numbers plus negatives: …−3, −2, −1, 0, 1, 2, 3…
• Fractions: Parts of a whole — e.g., ½, ¾, ⅗ — written as numerator/denominator.
• Decimals: Another way to show parts of a whole — e.g., 0.5, 2.75, 10.002 — aligned with our base‑10 system.
• Percentages: “Per hundred” — e.g., 25% = 25/100 = 0.25 — very common for discounts, interest, and statistics.
