I believe in a very hands on approach and I've worked with students with learning disabilities. I've also handled a wide range of students with varying ages. The key is to make sure that you understand the attention span of each student according to the student's age and base your lessons suitably. I've found that the best way to handle distracted students is to simply find out what they're interested in and find a way to relate it to the lesson.
