About Georgina
I am an English Literature Graduate from Oxford. I have always loved reading and creative writing but developed heightened passion for it during my A-levels whilst studying Gothic Literature.
I have previously worked as an Academic Mentor at Harris Academy St John's Wood for Year 11 English Literature and Language and Religious Studies GCSE students.
I have now had quite a few literary pieces and articles published and am working on a full length novel.
I understand that certain texts can be intimidating. I used to find Shakespeare and Gothic literature impossible to understand until a couple of really amazing teachers made them feel accessible to me.
I was diagnosed with ADHD later on in life and understand that students need teaching that is catered to them.
I respect every student as an individual and understand that everyone thinks differently and needs things explained to them differently.
Due to my passion for the subject I am naturally engaging and I am confident in my ability to convey complex subjects in a way that is accessible to all of my students.

The main skill you will need to be successful in both life and literature is critical thinking.
In my lessons we will go through texts together, word by word and examine the deeper meaning behind each text. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes it is obscured and sometimes there are multiple interpretations to be found.
I will teach you the historical context, in depth and breadth, of each text and their authors.
We will also go through all of your essays and creative writing together and make sure we can maximise your strengths and fill in any gaps. I place particular emphasis on writing style and wording. Often it is how well we can argue our point that matters more than the point itself.
Writing is as much about confidence as it is about practice. I always aim to build the confidence of my students.
I greatly welcome alternative opinions and interpretations of texts and see this as an important part of analysis. The beauty in each piece of literature and art alike is found in the eye of the beholder.
I have found in my work that most students are far more competent than they believe once given some encouragement.
