About Neil
Hello, I’m Neil, a fourth-year medical student who is passionate about teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. As a tutor, I bring my love for science to each session and hope to inspire my students to share in my excitement and excel in their chosen subjects!
My approach to tutoring is rooted in the belief that every student has the ability to excel, and my goal is to help them unleash their full potential. Whether you're struggling with a difficult concept or need help refining exam technique, I'm here to provide you with both the academic and pastoral support you need to succeed.
I have a strong foundation in the basic sciences of biology and chemistry, with years of previous experience teaching students at all levels, from KS2 to A-Level students. I have extensive experience with over 900 hours tutoring GCSE/A-Level Biology and Chemistry, including partaking in a government-funded school's program aimed at supporting students in catching up after the COVID-19 pandemic.

During our sessions, I encourage questions and foster an open dialogue, so that students can gain a deeper understanding of the material and develop a love for science that extends beyond the classroom.
I offer clear explanations and engaging resources to help students master key topics, while also providing effective exam techniques and practice questions to build their confidence.
However with science, knowledge of content alone is often not enough to excel in exams. I provide students with the tools to delve deeper into the subject matter and develop critical thinking skills. Additionally, I offer guidance on experimental techniques, data analysis and scientific-writing to excel in both practical and theory-based assessments.
A typical session begins with a starter activity, designed to activate your prior knowledge. This activity will help us establish a foundation for the topic at hand. Following the starter, we will dive into the core content, where we will explore key concepts and principles in detail. I will guide you through the material relevant to your specification, ensuring a clear understanding and answering any questions you may have along the way. After covering the content, we will conclude the session by practicing exam-style questions. This practical application of knowledge will strengthen your problem-solving skills and prepare you for assessments. In the last five minutes of each session, we will review what we've learned and discuss the topics we will cover in the next lesson, setting goals and ensuring a cohesive learning journey. Together, we will foster a deep understanding of science and empower you to achieve your academic goals.
