ESAT & AL Further Maths Tutor | Cambridge Engineering Undergrad | 9.0 in Both ESAT Maths Modules & Four A*s

Thehan is a good friend of mine who helped me with A-level mechanics throughout Year 13, particularly with topics like kinematics, projectile motion and some of the harder modelling questions.

Just before my Further Maths A-level exam, we hopped on Google Meet to go through SHM modelling and second-order differential equations using an online whiteboard. One question we worked through was a 10-mark past-paper problem involving two springs and oil providing resistance. He annotated the question and drew diagrams showing the extensions of the springs and the equilibrium position, then explained how to use the forces to set up the differential equation.

Breaking it down like that helped me understand where the equation actually came from rather than just following the mark scheme. I found his explanations clear and useful, especially when I was stuck on how to turn a mechanics problem into the maths needed to solve it.

By the end of the year I achieved an A* in Maths and an A in Further Maths, improving by a grade in both subjects and meeting my UCL offer. I’m really grateful for the help he gave me throughout Year 13, and I’d definitely recommend him to anyone who needs help making sense of harder A-level Maths or Further Maths questions.
