About Juan
With a Bachelor’s degree in Languages, I have been working as an English, French and Spanish teacher since 2003, as well as other positions and contexts involving linguistic skills (EFL and Spanish freelance online teacher, Literacy and Numeracy private tutor in English, English-Spanish and Spanish-Portuguese translations, web content creation in Spanish, and proofreading and editing in Spanish). These experiences have provided me with the knowledge and skills to guide the intellectual and human development of other individuals, particularly in their language-learning process.
Similarly, bearing in mind that some of my main interests have almost always focused on polyglotism and linguistics research, I have explored some foreign languages (Japanese, Czech, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Danish, and Dutch), and I am recently studying others (German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Catalan, and Russian) more carefully, all of them in a self-taught manner.
All of this intellectual career path aims at enlarging more and more my worldview, at leading me to better understand human communication functioning (consequently human thinking), at finding a way to help others in this field, and finally at helping me deeply understand my inner being, as well as its deep connection to our kind and the Universe.

I usually test students to identify their communication strengths and weaknesses based on the CEFR, successfully placing 100% of them in their appropriate approximate level.
Then I plan and implement integrated lessons to meet the CEFR standards, selecting and adapting appropriate books and instructional aids to complement the material chosen. Patience, respect and kindness are the main principles in all of my sessions.
I mostly use Zoom as my preferred video communication tool, but I can also implement other platforms (Google Meet, Teams). Most of my students have been adults and teenagers interested in learning a language or reinforcing their communicative skills. I have also conducted in-person Spanish classes to help some students become familiar with, understand, and practice for the exam DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera).
