About George
My teaching is not only shaped by my experience as a practicing musician, but also from research on proven teaching methodologies which I have discussed, learnt and written about whilst studying for my MMus in Jazz Vocal Performance.
I have performed at venues such as Turner Sims Southampton, Concorde Club, The Bridge, Talking Heads to name a few as a soloist and with Southampton University Jazz Orchestra. Recently my quintet, The Gatehouse Quintet, collaborated with London Flower School for a project called SUSPENSION.
I am a vocal tutor at Turbelles Performing Arts where I lead two groups of children (ages 3 - 6 and ages 7 - 14), helping them to learn repertoire and develop and understand vocal technique in a fun and engaging way.
Not only do I have experience with teaching children, I also have students who are adults.
I have first hand experience with lots of vocal teaching styles as I have been taught in various ways throughout my career. These include traditional classical, broader holistic and individual and group jazz approaches. From this experience I have leant that regardless of the type of approach, teaching should be rooted in implementing excellent vocal technique.

Hello and thank you for checking out my page! I am a vocalist and teacher based in London with 10+ years of experience in singing. Whilst jazz is my specialism, I have extensive experience in singing other genres including classical, pop, funk and soul.
I have a BA in Music (First Class Hons) and an MMus in Jazz Vocal Performance (Distinction) from the University of Southampton.
I believe as musicians, it is integral that we share our passion and skills to help encourage and inspire others. Through my singing lessons, I hope to achieve this by helping my students settle into their unique voice and feel confident in embracing their own musicality and creativity. My lessons are open to singers of any level of musical ability and of any genre.
My teaching follows a personalised approach. I tailor lessons to each student's individual learning style(s), ability, goals and musical interests.

- Vocal technique
- Breath control
- Vocal health
- Songwriting
- Performance anxiety
- ABRSM/Trinity London Grades
- Music theory
- Ear training
In our initial lesson I will talk to you about your music/singing experience and your goals. I will then devise a lesson plan tailored to your music taste, ability, interest and goals for you to review.
