About Robbie
I am a professional drummer, percussionist and experienced teacher of over 15 years. Since graduating as a performer and licensed teacher from the Royal Academy of Music in 2009, I have taught a wide range of drummers of all ages and abilities. I have toured the world with some West End musicals and shows like “Avenue Q” and “Star Wars in Concert”, most recently "Mamma Mia! International Tour" where I played Drums and Percussion. I studied music at the Royal Academy of Music where I earned a BMus(Hons) in Timpani & Percussion and the LRAM teaching qualification. I'm a fun, easy going teacher who is ready to share. The main focus of the lessons is to have fun making music! We can study a wide range of musical styles and genres over a good range of drums and percussion instruments. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so there is no pressure to take exams or learn rudiments if that doesn’t fit with the student’s needs. A variety of teaching materials and books are used combined with my own exercises to create a balanced musical learning experience. Students can learn to; Play their favourite songs Learn cool fills seen online or heard on a song Read music Write a drum chart (piece of drum music notation) Master the rudiments (exercises for the healthy drummer) Learn music theory Play percussion Take a graded exam in drums or percussion Every student will have the opportunity to learn all of these things (and more). Robbie has been teaching me for almost 6 months now, he’s really knowledgeable about all the different drumming techniques and it helps to hear him explain the different scenarios about where you would use this type of Latin beat or this swing beat for example thanks Robbie for all your help with everything even though I’ve gone to uni your still helping me tons!
