About John
I graduated from the Department of Education at the University of Patras, and completed my Master's degree on Intercultural Education and Greek as a second or foreign language in 2024. I have been teaching modern Greek since 2019, working with a diverse range of students, from young children in primary school to adults. Over the years, these experiences have affected my teaching practice and helped me adapt my methods to suit the different needs of my students. Completing my Masters Degree further deepened my understanding of the diverse ways in which language and culture intersect in the learning process. I believe that learning a new language requires dedication from both the student and teacher who must always notice the weaknesses and help, providing the guidance and support needed.

If my experience teaching both adults and children has taught me anything, it’s that every person is unique in their own way. With this in mind, I tailor each lesson to suit the individual needs and interests of my students. I believe in creating an engaging, interactive environment where learning is dynamic and collaborative. Rather than having students simply absorb information and memorize rules, I encourage active participation, helping them to engage with the material in a meaningful way. The main goal is the acquisition of communication skills which I believe is the basis of learning any language.
In my lessons, I incorporate a diverse range of educational materials to cater to various learning styles and levels. This includes textbooks suited to different proficiency levels, interactive online exercises, PDF files with supplementary practice activities, and visual aids such as pictures.

John is a very good teacher. Greek is a very difficult language and John helped me a lot. He is very supported with very good techniques to learn the language.
I fully recommend him.Im Greek but i stay in USA, and i never had the chance to learn Greek. A few months now im having lessons with Yiannis and he is the best, he really helped me ( i realized it when i visited Greece recently) he is really patient and helpful! If you want to learn Greek, Yiannis is your man!
John is really patient and has helped me lots with understanding spoken greek. One of the best things about his lessons is that they never get boring. Alongside learning greek, I also got the chance to know a plethora of intriguing things about the greek history and culture! (Fun fact: plethora is a greek word!)
