  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a strong interest in mathematics and science from an early age, as I was always fascinated by how logical reasoning and scientific principles could explain the world around us. Over time, this curiosity evolved into a deep passion for understanding complex concepts and, more importantly, helping others to do the same.

My interest in private tutoring began during my academic years, when I started assisting classmates and younger students who found certain topics challenging. I discovered a genuine sense of fulfillment in breaking down difficult ideas into clear, manageable steps and witnessing that moment of understanding in my students. This experience inspired me to pursue tutoring more seriously, as it allowed me to combine my enthusiasm for maths and science with my desire to make a positive impact on students’ learning journeys.

Today, I view tutoring not just as a profession, but as an opportunity to nurture confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in every student I teach.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in teaching Mathematics and Science, subjects that I believe form the foundation of logical thinking and problem-solving. In Mathematics, I cover a wide range of topics — from algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to calculus and statistics. I particularly enjoy discussing problem-solving strategies, real-world applications of mathematical concepts, and helping students develop a deeper understanding rather than relying solely on memorization. I find great satisfaction in guiding students to see the beauty and structure behind mathematical reasoning.

In Science, I focus primarily on Physics and Chemistry. I enjoy exploring topics such as motion, energy, electricity, chemical reactions, and the periodic table. I find that these areas allow students to connect theory with everyday phenomena, which often sparks their curiosity and engagement. I especially enjoy conducting or demonstrating simple experiments that make abstract ideas more tangible and relatable.

If there’s one area I find slightly less engaging, it would be rote memorization of lengthy definitions or purely theoretical content without application. I much prefer discussions that involve critical thinking, hands-on examples, and conceptual understanding. Ultimately, my goal is to help students see the interconnectedness of concepts across topics and develop both confidence and genuine enjoyment in learning Maths and Science.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was deeply inspired by one of my high school teachers who had an incredible ability to make complex mathematical ideas feel simple and enjoyable. What stood out most was not just their knowledge, but their patience, enthusiasm, and genuine belief in every student’s potential. That experience shaped the way I teach today — I aim to create the same positive and supportive learning environment that once motivated me.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor must possess patience, empathy, and adaptability. Every student learns differently, and a tutor should be able to recognize individual needs and adjust their teaching style accordingly. Strong subject knowledge is, of course, essential, but equally important is the ability to communicate clearly and inspire confidence. A good tutor doesn’t just teach content — they help students believe in their ability to learn and succeed.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember a time in school when a classmate struggled with understanding quadratic equations. Instead of simply giving them the answer, I tried explaining the concept using a real-life analogy — comparing the graph of a parabola to the path of a ball being thrown in the air. Seeing their expression change from confusion to understanding was incredibly rewarding. That moment made me realize how powerful it can be to approach teaching creatively — and it marked the beginning of my passion for tutoring.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

In the beginning, I sometimes found it challenging to balance theory with application, especially in Science where abstract concepts can feel disconnected from reality. Over time, I learned to approach these challenges by relating every idea to something tangible — a physical example, an experiment, or a real-world problem. Even now, I continue to refine my teaching methods to ensure every concept feels relevant and meaningful to my students.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My greatest passion lies in teaching itself — particularly in helping students develop confidence and curiosity in subjects they once found intimidating. I find joy in those “aha!” moments when a difficult concept suddenly makes sense. Beyond teaching, I’m also passionate about continuous learning and exploring how technology and real-world contexts can make Maths and Science more engaging for students.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a Superprof is my dedication to personalized learning and my genuine care for my students’ progress. I don’t just focus on academic success; I strive to build confidence, resilience, and a lasting interest in the subject. My lessons are interactive, tailored to individual learning styles, and designed to make students feel supported every step of the way. I believe that every student can excel — they just need the right guidance and encouragement to discover their potential.
