About Jack
I am a New Zealand-born cellist with a varied career in both performance and teaching. I have had the privilege of freelancing with the top orchestras in New Zealand, including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO). My experience as a chamber musician is equally extensive; I have toured the country with Chamber Music New Zealand and been invited to perform at multiple prestigious festivals in New Zealand and abroad, such as the At the Worlds Edge Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. I have been lucky to have had some incredible teachers and lessons, and can't wait to pass the knowledge on!

With five years of teaching experience, I am dedicated to nurturing the next generation of cellists. My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual needs and goals, ensuring a personalised and effective learning experience. Whether students are just beginning their musical journey or are advanced players looking to refine their skills, I strive to create a supportive and inspiring environment that encourages growth and development. A core element of my teaching philosophy is fostering a deep love and appreciation for music. I believe that a strong emotional connection to the music enhances the learning process and makes practising more enjoyable and fulfilling. To achieve this, I incorporate a variety of engaging and creative methods in my lessons, including repertoire that excites and challenges my students.
