About Alex
I am an experienced performer and have been teaching guitar now for two years. I have taken my students over that time from complete beginners to being able to understand music, as well as learn and play their favourite songs. I always aim to nurture a desire for deeper understanding in music, and encourage my students to ask questions.

Hi, I’m Alex! Thanks for visiting my profile. I’m a North East based musician and guitarist, available to teach electric and acoustic guitar to all abilities (from complete beginners to more advanced players). I have been playing the guitar since I was 8 years old, and have studied music at Newcastle University (earning a BA in Contemporary and Popular Music).
I am enthusiastic about music and want to pass my passion on. I will take you through all the fundamentals (from scales and chords to lead and rhythm playing), to playing and jamming along with your favourite songs, and understanding what makes them great! With experience in many styles I can teach you all styles, including Pop, Rock, Blues, and Jazz. Sessions will also incorporate music theory and ear training, so you can understand the language of music and express yourself much easier, as well as being able to write your own songs and learn your favourite songs much quicker.
As well as teaching, I perform in a Pop band called Friends Like These, and work live and in the studio as a session musician. With Friends Like These I have performed on festivals around the country, have played live at the O2 Arena as part of a Music Festival, and have opened for Simply Red at the Emirates International Stadium. I also play guitar in musicals as part of the orchestra pit - some of the musicals I have been a part of include: Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray, 9 To 5, Grease, The Addams Family, and Little Shop of Horrors.
I am available to teach at my home, but can also travel to teach you at your home as well.
