About John
I taught in Japan for 20 years. During that time I met many highly motivated and dedicated students of all ages and levels. In terms of teaching hours, more than 2300hrs have been taught with student numbers in the high hundreds. I can honesty say each student has learned something! And had fun doing so!
I have a degree in English Literature and a Trinity College TESOL.
I am from England and I now live in Florida, USA, near a beach.

I base my teaching on student needs. Throughout my career, I stress the importance on achievable progression goals. I believe these small steps allow students to self monitor their own progress and achieves self worth. This is so important for student motivation. I believe that teaching a subject, any subject, requires the teacher to bring more to the student than just knowledge and expertise. A genuine interest in the student is must. A student hobbies and activities can also help in learning. More often than not, these can greatly enhance the learning experience!
