About Jabez

I am new on this website.

I do not have any confirmed reviews at the moment, but I have worked as a private ACT tutor since 2012. If you are reading this, you are most likely looking for an experienced ACT tutor, who can guarantee that your investment will deliver strong results for your son or daughter. I believe I am the right person for that job, and I look forward to explaining why.

Although I personally scored a 36 on the ACT, I believe my greatest strength as a tutor is my experience working with over 800 students in the past eight years. A world-class ACT score can open many exciting, purpose-filled doors after high school, and I believe the most efficient way to build a strong ACT score is through personalized, one-on-one ACT mentorship.

Every time I meet with a student, it really does feel as if I travel back in time and give mentorship to my own younger self. I love this job because of the impact I can make in the lives of students who remind me of me.

I have created a library of ACT practice drills, which I am excited to share with you. The practice drills are built with question level and complexity in mind. This is to ensure that my students always master the easier questions before we tackle the more complicated questions.

If you have any questions about the ACT or the upcoming college admissions process, please feel free to give me a call, to send me an email, or to shoot me a text. I am here to help.

I look forward to speaking with you soon!

After I scored a 36 in my junior year of high school, my friends began asking me to help them prepare for the ACT. Ten years later, my passion for teaching has grown. However, I realized that the ACT offers me an amazing opportunity to mentor my students as they progress through one of the most significant transitions in their young lives. The opportunity to mentor students through the platform of the ACT has been my greatest joy.

I personally scored a perfect 36 on the ACT, and I have worked with over 800 students since 2012. At Emory University, I was an Economics and Neuroscience double major. Although I did do not have classical teaching training, I believe both of my majors have contributed heavily to my teaching style.

Influence of Neuroscience: My Neuroscience studies taught me how each person's brain is dynamically different from one another. No two students think the exact same way and do not come into our ACT lessons with the same needs. As such, I prioritize listening to my students, as I can only learn how a student processes information this way.

Influence of Economics: My freshman year, I was surprised to learn that Economics isn't about money but about the study of human behavior. The ACT system I have built is purposefully designed to help students master each crevice of the ACT.

Starting from the first introductory phone call, I have devised an five-step process to bring the highest quality mentorship and to ensure peace of mind to my clients.

- My lessons are held once a week for one hour via Skype.

- The student is assigned personalized weekly homework assignments that are to be submitted via a scanner app.

- The student will typically work with me over the course of three to four ACT exams.

1. Introductory Phone Call: This thirty-minute call is scheduled to discuss the ACT, college admissions plans, and how best I can help to achieve these goals.

2. Build a Personalized ACT Plan: After our phone call, I will send an email for additional information needed to build a prospective ACT plan. This ACT plan includes an up-to-date analysis of how competitive your student is for his or her schools of interest, what our final ACT score goal is, lesson dates and times, and other logistics.

3. Approving ACT Plan: After I send the personalized ACT plan, I ask that you look over the dates and times for any known time conflicts. I keep my weekends open for rescheduling lessons, so if anything urgent comes up, I am always able to adjust to my student's schedule. If everything looks good, the ACT plan is approved, and the first lesson is sent as a confirmation.

4. Lesson Materials Mailed: After our lesson plan is confirmed, I will be sending a lesson material box, which includes practice tests, practice drills, and other utensils.

5. First Lesson and Moving Forward: The lessons are once a week for one hour. During this lesson, we will be reviewing the practice assignments - which are submitted via a scanner app - and continuing instructions.

I have worked with students of all skill levels. However, I do have the most success with students with a baseline ACT score between a 24-28. These students typically have a strong foundation but lack a strategic understanding of how the ACT is designed, in what ways the ACT is repetitive, and how to build a study program to master the ACT.

I have worked tirelessly over the past two years to develop a program that can help students - with baseline scores as low as an 18 - reach a 30 and above. I have had mixed success in this endeavor.

In the end, a coachable student will always be successful.

Trust your gut. It could be a short phone call or something as small as someone how someone says "hello" that can make an impression on you. I would encourage any high school student to look for a teacher that has compatible energy with you and someone who is a great communicator.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would recommend all high school students to think about these questions and to share their thoughts with their parents.

1. What do you think a great ACT score is (1-36)? The average ACT score in the United States is 20.

2. Why do I want a great ACT score?

3. What is my favorite food? You will be asked this question a million times in life, and most people fumble through their answers. Always be mindful of what you like and don't like. Once you answer enough of these questions, you will know yourself better than you did before.

I believe it is of the utmost importance to be correctly compensated for my time and for the value I can bring. However, I would never want a student to miss out on achieving their life goals because of monetary constraints.

Please inquire about different pricing options. I do take budget constraints into consideration.
