About Tanja
I am a scientist-practitioner with ample experience in tutoring and lecturing. I have taught any subject imaginable and for all ages. I have approximately 14 years experience, enjoying helping others whenever I can. I have taught individuals, as well as university classes with up to 40 students. Many school learners have gone from failing their languages and sciences to getting distinctions after my tutor assistance. I aim to always make the learning experience more approachable and interactive, ensuring that it is tailored to the individual's needs. :)

My teaching method entails problem-point-sourcing and then first working on the identified weaknesses. Thereafter, I always go back to the foundation of the subject and build the subject up from there based on the new content. I am really patient and a good listener. I also take more of a strict feedback-approach when recapping a previous lesson or after new content has been dealt with. This does not only help the student to grasp the work better, but also helps me as the tutor to improve my teaching method and realise when the content was not relayed sufficiently.

Perfect! Tanya has been a wonderful Afrikaans teacher. I came to these classes wanting to improve my language abilities, especially speaking. I'd taken Afrikaans as a subject at school but never had the confidence to actually use it, and apart from a few sporadic interactions over the years, I hadn't put it to much use since. My goal in working with Tanya was to build that confidence and finally start using the language in practice.
What I've really appreciated is how Tanya began with the basics but then adapted the lessons to my pace as it picked up, tailored the content to my work and interests, and built in a strong spoken component throughout. Her classes are patient, well-structured, and genuinely enjoyable.

Tanja is a great tutor, I would totally recommend her if you'd like to learn Afrikaans. She finds unique methods of teaching and tailors the lessons to my interests which makes the language much more fun to learn. She's also very kind and patient with me. If you're keen to learn Afrikaans, I suggest giving Tanja a try!
