About Thomas
My engaging and interactive teaching methods help students devlelop a rich conceptual and practical understanding of topics in physics, biology, chemistry, and math. I've been tutoring as well as teaching university level coursework for over 5 years, and have received awards my effective lecturing style and innovation in outreach.
My teaching style is heavily inspiried by the Feynman Technique for learning, which helps students build their understanding on a solid conceptual foundation. Physics has taught me that the best way to understand a complex system is to take it apart, and begin with the basics. My goal is to sharpen and simplify your understanding of the concepts, and allow you to confidently arrive at the right answer every time.
I mentor and supervise 50+ first year medical school students during a 3-month long research internship. I have also been teaching university coursework for 5+ years. Below is a summary of my teaching experience:

My teaching method is very personalized, so before formal instruction can begin, I want to get to know you a bit. Why are you taking this class? What are some things that interest and excite you? What are you hoping to get out of this tutoring experience?
Once I know who it is I'm teaching, I'll measure your current level of understanding with a short written and oral assessment. Once that's done, we'll go over the results together and come up with our battle plan.
I have worked with students ranging in age from 14-40 in subject ranging from Spanish to Modern Physics.
