As a beginner cellist with very little music knowledge, I have found Matt to be a great teacher. Our lessons go beyond just playing the notes on the page; they focus on developing proper technique, learning music theory, and discussing well-known pieces across a range of genres. Matt also does his best to make learning a new instrument “fun” by writing arrangements to songs I like and having them be part of practice. Matt’s passion for cello is apparent in his thoughtful teaching style and dedication to his students. I have seen myself progress over the past five months more than I ever thought I would thanks to him. I would highly recommend Matt as a teacher.
