About Ryan
I'm a 4th year Computer Science student at The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm a passionate developer who's been programming since I was 13, I want to help others experience the love I have for programming! I have a lot of experience teaching individuals of all ages how to program and improve their development skills.
Not only do I help guide my students from basic to advanced topics, I also provide extra resources, recorded videos, and exercised the students can use to test their skills outside of the sessions. I make myself available to answer any questions I can outside of my sessions for free.
I can help students with a variety of learning tracks: Web Development, Software Development, Game Development, Data Science, and basic Machine / Deep Learning. Throughout our sessions we will progressively develop the programs we create, until we create fully functional larger-scale projects.
I have industry experience working as a Data Science and Artificial Intelligence intern for The Aerospace Corporation as well as an accepted position as a Software Engineering Intern with NCR for Summer 2021. I also have experience working as a student researcher and helping out among startups.
Due to the pandemic, all of my sessions are taught remotely through Zoom, Bluejeans, Discord, or Microsoft Teams. You can learn more about me at: (concealed information) and (concealed information)
I look forward to meeting you!
I began teaching in my first year in college. I had done a lot of programming before I got to college and ended up hosting group tutoring sessions where I would teach a group of 5-10 the current content of the course to help them better understand. From there, I began doing 1-on-1 sessions!
I am a senior computer science student at one of the top 10 computer science universities in the country, here I've gather a myriad of skills and knowledge that I use to best learn and understand the content. I also have experience both in industry as a developer and academia through research.

When working with new students, it is important to gauge their knowledge. I do this through a series of questions, small coding prompts, and casual discussion. Once I have a good understanding of a students knowledge, I spend some time to learn more about them, what they want to get out of my sessions, and any additional feedback from them. From there, we go ahead and begin our first day of programming!
I have worked with plenty of students of all ages - most commonly middle school through college. I especially love working with students who are early on in high school and younger! This is because I wish to help them experience the creativity and excitement that comes with understanding how to program.
I think it is important that you are excited to learn to program. If programming is something that simply interests you for money, you will never enjoy it and it will simply be a drag to learn.
I recently went skiing for the first time ever and had a ton of fun going from not being able to even stand, to being able to hold my own on fairly difficult slopes!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Is there anything in particular that you wish to learn how to create? This can range from making a game to learning how to make a LED board that you can draw on using your phone. The beauty of computer science is that you can use it just about EVERYWHERE.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I've tried programming in the past, but have always been discouraged since I thought it was a lot of math and a lot of the stuff I look up online was too hard to understand. He made it really easy to understand and get started, and we even made a cool website in my first lesson
