About Jennifer

I have been a professor of English for 20 years. I have taught composition at all levels, as well as American Literature. For the past 6 years, I have also served as the coordinator for a writing center on my college campus that is staffed 100% by peer tutors. I also teach the course that trains students to be tutors in the writing center.

I enjoy helping writers hone their skills. I like to see them make progress and to build confidence in themselves to be strong and articulate writers. When writers recognize their own potential and skills, I find that to be the most rewarding experience.

I started my career working for City Year, a nonprofit youth service organization that served as the inspiration for AmeriCorps. Through working with a diverse group of people, I found my niche for training and teaching. I loved my years at college, so I decided to pursue a career as a Composition and Literature professor at a community college.

I have my Master's in English, and I have taught Composition and Literature at the college level for 20 years.

Look for someone with experience. Meet with the tutor and see how you "gel" with that person. If it is not a good match, find the person you feel helps you improve as a writer.
