About Marina

Welcome to Ms. Pappas's English Mastery!!

Do you want to be a master at communication? Do you want to move mountains with your words?

Clear and effective communication comes in many forms, and each task requires a different style of writing to convince your audience that you know what you are talking about. From perfect grammar to A+ essays, I can help anyone achieve their writing goals.

Background:

At Trinity College in Connecticut I majored in English literature and creative writing. I also minored in Writing, Rhetoric, and Media Studies. In high school I also took the AP Literature Exam and recieved a 760/800 on my SATs at the time.

Experience:

I am currently a 7th grade English teacher who loves to help her students achieve all of their writing goals and improve their ability to be heard. I also worked at my college's Student Success and Career Development Center for years where my roles included resume and cover letter editing, evaluations, technical writing, proofreading, and developing copy.

The Heart of the Work:

Education is a way for people to learn how to lift themselves up and grow into the people that they are becoming, each and every day. Writing is a tool that will elevate every part of a person's life because they will be seen and heard cleary despite living in a chaotic world.

I started a tutoring program for the boxers that I worked with in Connecticut, which inspired me to search for a teaching job when I graduated.

First we discuss areas of strength and growth in school and otherwise. Then we identify the most important, the highest leverage goals that the student has. This means we will work on the area of growth which will help the student grow the FASTEST.

We will also work on social and emotional skills to help the student learn how to focus and regulate emotions as they come up with the work. My tutoring style supports the whole child as they grow holisitically.
